Surgery Scheduled

We got Taylor's surgery scheduled for July 9th. We expect him to be in the hospital 5 days, and then home for another 2.5weeks before returning to daycare. I hate that we have to wait 7 weeks, that's too much time to think too much! For family and friends who will visit just remember that Taylor won't need to be around anyone that is even a little bit sick for atleast the first 3 weeks. His three week period of no daycare, no sick people, no crowds should end just in time for his 3rd birthday!! What a celebration it will be!!

Spoke with surgery scheduler

We received a call today from the nurse that schedules the surgery. We had hoped for a June date, but there is only one possibility left for June and they are waiting to find out if they have been given an extra O.R. room before they give us this date. So by the end of the week we should know if his surgery will be June 12 or July 13th. We were told to expect Taylor to be in the hospital for 5 days, and no day care for 3 weeks. Those are the norms. And in this situation you hope to be normal!! Taylor is doing great. We had a great Mother's Day. Saturday night I did get my sushi and a little shopping. Sunday we had lunch with James' family and visited after lunch with my dad and his side of the family. This was the 3rd Mother's Day without my mother. It's hard to believe! Time does go so fast.

Cath Conference

Well we finally spoke with Taylor's cardiologist Friday afternoon. Basically she stated what we already knew, that after the cath conference with all the cardiologists it is agreed on that he needs surgery. It's not emergent so it doesn't have to be done immediately, they basically recommended that we look at our schedule and plan for the next 4-6 months. So when we are contacted by the surgery scheduler we are going to request June. We will have far more support in the summer with my sister being a teacher. So as soon as we get it scheduled I will post.

Last night was the first night that James or myself haven't put Taylor to sleep. We got a babysitter...Hunter. I had guilt for leaving him and not being there to put him to sleep. The bad and good thing was it was a surprise party for a friend and her husband who just graduated with new career paths and they had karaoke......so getting James to quit singing and go home was no easy task. The guy likes to sing!!!

Off to enjoy this beautiful day!! Hoping for a little sushi for Mother's Day!

Front row seat...

Taylor loves cars, motorcycles, trucks...anything motorized. So when James is mowing the yard he likes to have a front row seat to watch. He will literally watch the whole front yard get cut(not that it is that big). All of Taylor's boo boo's are looking much better from his cath. While at Wal-mart yesterday we found a play medical kit to play with so maybe it will help with our next visit. Taylor hates getting his BP taken and there is a play BP cuff so I hope it will help. I guess it can't hurt. Off to enjoy this beautiful day...

Update on Heart Cath

Taylor had his cath this past Thursday. The pressures they measured were normal but high normal. His heart and lungs are functioning fine now but they are afraid there could be issues as he gets older so they are recommending that he have heart surgery. They will meet as a group next Thursday to discuss when they will recommend he have it done. After a heart cath you have to lay flat and not bend your legs for 4-6 hours, so as you can imagine Taylor didn't enjoy that. He is more comfortable on his stomach so that was hard for him. Anyway, we were doing so good that they had decided that at about 5pm they would go ahead and let us go home. So at about 4pm Taylor suddenly threw up all he had drank since the cath and then the nurse came in and pulled back the blanket and his right leg was bright, bright red in color and the left was still normal color. So they checked the site of the cath and it was swollen and had a little hematoma (blood clot) under the site. So obviously they decided to keep us for the night. I am thankful all of that did not happen in the car. It was definitely good timing it happened at the hospital. Taylor stayed nauseated for a while and really fussy but overall he slept really well that night. Hunter came to spend the night Friday night and is watching movies with him as I type. So we will update when we find out more. Please keep us in your prayers. BTW, Vanderbilt Children's Hospital was great. We had a great experience with everything and the hospital and patient rooms are very nice.
